Josie Kay Photography bio picture
  • Hey there! I’m Josie Kay

American Poet, and one of my favorites, Mary Oliver asked; “So tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one WILD + PRECIOUS life?” Her question resonated with me personally and professionally and those two words became a mantra to drive my life and work.
Personally, I am in love with the idea of life being WILD + PRECIOUS. Because it is. It’s fast + slow, big + small, crazy + simple…wild + precious. Life is full of these moments. Everyone has a story and I’m here to tell it.

Jenny is off to YWAM Haiti!

This girl. She’s a world changer. And has a heart so big, it’s almost too much. I honestly can’t tell you the first time I met Jenny, I just know her! We both grew up in the same community and were involved in the same homeschool organization.

Jenny attended a YWAM (Youth With A Mission) DTS (Discipleship Training School)  in Colorado after high school. I remember when I first heard that she was going to YWAM (being a former YWAMMER myself) I was so excited for her because I knew of the incredible, once in a lifetime experience she was in for. God did not disappoint. When Jenny came back from YWAM, I think we spent several hours in a coffee shop one day talking up God, the amazing journey He had just taken her on, and what was ahead…

Fast forward a couple of years, a couple of trips to Haiti, and here we are back in that same coffee shop. She is telling me all about the new chapter she’s about to begin. This year Jenny got an offer to go to YWAM Haiti as a full time Staff member! She has made a commitment and will be volunteering there for at least the next two years!

To say that Jenny has a heart for Haiti, would be a huge understatement. Her excitement overflows as she speaks about the country and the amazing people in it. Her sheer joy and passion for going and serving in Haiti is something God given. It is evident that she has a unique calling there.

I was honored when Jenny asked me to snap a few photos of her for the prayer cards she was creating. After our iced coffees, we headed out to some of the finest back alleys in our small town, and had SUCH A FUN photo shoot!  I took far more pictures than she needed, and at one point even said, ” I know we already have enough, but I don’t want to stop!”….

Jenny, you are a joy to be around! It was an absolute pleasure photographing you.  I am so excited for your upcoming adventure. I look forward to hearing about all the amazing things you’re doing with your life!

Josie, these pictures are amazing! Every one was my favorite until I saw the next one…so pretty much they’re all my favorite. Thanks for doing this photo shoot for Jenny. Of course, you do realize it was a conversation your mom and I had about your YWAM experience that got her started as a YWAMMER! You’re quite the inspiration :)
