Josie Kay Photography bio picture
  • Hey there! I’m Josie Kay

American Poet, and one of my favorites, Mary Oliver asked; “So tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one WILD + PRECIOUS life?” Her question resonated with me personally and professionally and those two words became a mantra to drive my life and work.
Personally, I am in love with the idea of life being WILD + PRECIOUS. Because it is. It’s fast + slow, big + small, crazy + simple…wild + precious. Life is full of these moments. Everyone has a story and I’m here to tell it.

Brandon + Lauren | nye wedding | 8th & Roast | Nashville, TN

What could be more romantic than a New Year’s Eve wedding? Answer: nothing. Unless the wedding venue is a coffee shop, with only 20-30 of your closest family and friends, and a million twinkly lights everywhere. Yep, this wedding takes the cake. Fun, unique and alternative just like Brandon + Lauren. This wedding fit them and their style so perfectly, and highlighted the most important parts of a wedding day: love and family.

Brandon + Lauren,

Thank you so much for choosing me to document the first day of your marriage. I truly loved every minute of it.  Your families and friends were so warm and welcoming. It felt like I was part of the gang at a family dinner:)

Congratulations, I’m so excited for you two and your future together! Look forward to seeing y’all around town:)

Beautiful job!

Brad + Liz | Wedding | Indianapolis Art Center

Before their wedding day, I had never met Brad or Liz in person. But, I cannot tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to their wedding. After initially “meeting” Liz via Skype and hearing her describe her wedding day vision, I was hooked. I wanted to be a part of it. And the day did not disappoint.

Liz has flawless taste and created the most gorgeous setting down to the smallest of details –just wait until you see the photos below. Seriously, it was a visual dream for a photographer. Most of the decor was handcrafted by the bride herself, no big deal.

Brad + Liz,

Thank you so much for choosing me to be a part of your day! It’s easy to see how perfect you two are for each other and I felt extremely privileged to witness and document your love. Excited for  your lives together and wishing you all the best.

A big thank you to my amazing second shooter, Micala. She captured these lovely images of Brad and the Mothers waiting for Liz to walk down the aisle.

Always one of my favorite moments. Liz and her Dad about to walk down the aisle.

Brad + Liz have the best chemistry. I love how goofy they are together…

David Reilich Occasions turned Liz’s vision into a reality and the results were stunning.

After Dark  got the party started and kept it going!

Brad + Liz had THEE best family and guests. Everybody was on that dance floor.

Lindsey + Brandon | Wedding | The Columbia Club Indianapolis, IN

Words cannot express how much I loved being a part of this wedding day. Lindsey and Brandon are truly two of the most kind, down to earth and fun people you will ever meet, and their entire wedding day reflected that. They also have the most amazing family and friends, who welcomed Sara and I like we were old friends.

A special thanks to A.J. Ploughe and The Columbia Club  for orchstrating such a gorgeous event. Beyond amazing! Also, a big thanks to Sara, my incredible second shooter for the day. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Lindsey and Brandon,

Thank you so much for choosing me to document your special day!!! I’m sad it’s over, I could shoot 20 more just like it. You guys are the best and I’m so happy for your future together!

Cheers to the happy couple!

Not only is Lindsey a knockout, but she also has impeccable taste…umm, can we talk about those earrings.

I love when a couple decides to do a First Look…

Every wedding should come with a trolley.

Since Lindsey and Brandon did a First Look we had tons of time to run around town and have some fun with the entire bridal party…

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wolf!

Floral & Fur | Fashion

Ahh, when Bridal meets Fashion, there’s no place I’d rather be. This was a fun stylized shoot I thought up about a month ago, and with the help of some really talented people it all came together! I like that Brides are starting to make more untraditional fashion forward choices on their wedding day, and floral headpieces seem to be one of them. That one element inspired the whole look for this shoot. I took my idea into the folks at A Village of Flowers, in Nashville, and collaborated on creating a custom floral headpiece. Their work and the final product exceeded my expectations!

The flawless look was perfected by the amazing Make-up Artist, Anais Ramirez, who was an absolute gem to work with! As was our fantastic model, Alyssa Rabun.

Josie – I love the haze in these. So dreamy!

Lindsey & Brandon | Engagement Session

After months of being e-mail buddies I finally got to meet Lindsey and her fiancé Brandon! Lindsey pretty much “had me at hello” in her first e-mail and booked me for their wedding a couple of months ago, but it wasn’t until last week that we finally met in person, and I had the honor of photographing their engagement session. Lindsey and Brandon are such a fantastic couple and compliment each other so well. Lindsey is fun and laid-back and Brandon can put a smile on her face and make her laugh in an instant…which made my job extremely easy (:

You guys are the coolest. I had the best time hanging out with you two! So excited for your wedding next year! Thank you so much for including me in your big day, I am so honored and can’t wait to celebrate!!!!!!!

with love & thanks,

Josie Kay

Lindsey, you are stunning…and Brandon, you are hands down the best cheek-sniffer I’ve ever photographed.
