Josie Kay Photography bio picture
  • Hey there! I’m Josie Kay

American Poet, and one of my favorites, Mary Oliver asked; “So tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one WILD + PRECIOUS life?” Her question resonated with me personally and professionally and those two words became a mantra to drive my life and work.
Personally, I am in love with the idea of life being WILD + PRECIOUS. Because it is. It’s fast + slow, big + small, crazy + simple…wild + precious. Life is full of these moments. Everyone has a story and I’m here to tell it.

Cheers to Five Years | Tim & Tara

Champagne and Rainbows made this five year wedding anniversary shoot extra funnnnn! (Side note: EVERY couple should do an anniversary shoot –SO.MUCH.FUN.)…

Tim and Tara were both in a friend’s wedding that I shot a little over a year ago. Since then we’ve all become good friends and Tara has helped me dream, style and create some amazing photo shoots along the way…including this one! Happy anniversary, you guys are the best!!!!

Shooting into the beautiful setting sun, then turned around to see THIS BEAUTY!

Sara & Joey | Hot Air Balloon Wedding

Every once in a while there will be a very unique bride who has the most untraditional wedding ever. I am proud to say the award for most unique wedding I have ever shot goes to one of my best friends in the whole world, Miss Sara Chapman –I mean, Mrs. Sara Stewart!

Sara and I met at school in Hawaii 6 years ago and have been friends ever since. Sara, as a wedding photographer, has attended many, many weddings, and knew the traditional route just wasn’t for her and Joey. So why not get married in a Hot Air Balloon?! SO VERY SARA.

I was so honored to be part of their day. I had the privilege of shooting the wedding day events along with Sara’s father, the incredible, Gary S. Chapman. And the amazing videographers at Milestone Pictures (see video below).

The day started at an early 4am, for hair,make-up and omelets before the sunrise balloon ceremony.

Even though it was 4AM Sara was energetic and WIDE AWAKE….And proceeded to sing Katy Perry. She also had to drive herself to her own wedding! (I can’t drive stick!)

||Quite possibly my favorite photograph of the day.||

Congratulations Sara & Joey! I love you guys and I am so excited for your marriage and all the amazing things to come. Cheers to a life full of adventures!

The incredible guys at Milestone Pictures shot, edited and showed this video THE SAME DAY! They were amazing! Check out their fb page here.

Forever the Tribute | Beatles

The Denim and Dirt event was an evening fundraiser for the new renovation of the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. Forever the Tribute, a Beatles tribute band, was the entertainment for the evening and they did not disappoint. They put on a fantastic show and preformed favorites such as “A Hard Days Night”, “Yellow Submarine” and my personal favorite “Eight Days A Week”…. The original Beatles played in the very same venue back in 1964, and now Forever the Tribute will be the last band to play in the old Pepsi Coliseum. I was lucky enough to be there and photograph the fun!
